Journalist Muhammad Faheem Raises Concerns Over Media Priorities and Missing Persons

ISLAMABAD — Well-known journalist Muhammad Faheem has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize the Pakistani mainstream media’s editorial priorities, comparing the extensive coverage given to cricketer Shahid Afridi’s missing pets with the lack of attention paid to missing persons.

In his post on X, Faheem stated:

“If mainstream media gave even a fraction of the coverage dedicated to Shahid Afridi’s ‘missing dogs’ to the ‘missing youth’ of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 90% of Pakistan’s problems would already be solved.”

The commentary highlights a growing conversation among digital journalists and commentators regarding the need for national media outlets to focus more heavily on critical human rights and governance issues.
