PESHAWAR — A Call Attention Notice regarding the legitimate rights and employment opportunities of the youth of South Waziristan Upper was included in the official agenda of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly today.
The notice, initiated by Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Asif Khan Mehsud, aimed to highlight the oversight and lack of representation of South Waziristan Upper in recent recruitments conducted by the provincial Agriculture Department.
However, in a key administrative development today, an official notification was issued appointing MPA Asif Khan Mehsud as Parliamentary Secretary. Under KP Assembly rules and procedural regulations, a cabinet member or Parliamentary Secretary cannot formally present an individual Call Attention Notice on the floor. Consequently, the notice was temporarily suspended.
Continued Effort for Youth Rights
Addressing concerns regarding the suspension, representatives confirmed that the issue has not been shelved. Rather, the appointment as Parliamentary Secretary provides a stronger direct platform to resolve the grievance.
In his new executive capacity, MPA Asif Khan Mehsud will directly coordinate with the leadership of the relevant government departments to take concrete, practical steps toward ensuring fair recruitment quotas for South Waziristan Upper.
“We assure all our youth that there will be no compromise on their rights. Our struggle was active yesterday, remains active today, and will continue until every young person in Upper Waziristan receives their due rights. The voice of South Waziristan will continue to be raised on every forum.”
The parliamentary team reiterated its commitment to monitoring the recruitment process and safeguarding equal opportunity for the region’s youth across all government departments.
